We are a group of residents and businesses who care about the history and future of the local area. We come together around once a month to discuss current planning issues and to work on our emerging NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN which covers a range of subjects from Housing and Open Spaces to Heritage and the Local Economy.
We aim to generate planning policies with the involvement of local people that build on their existing identities, ensuring that new developments do not turn their backs on the areas’ history, architectural wealth or previous generations of residents and businesses. Please see our HISTORY and CONSTITUTION pages for further details on how the group has been established to help local people achieve genuine influence over planning policy by producing a NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN highlighting the importance of the built environment in our designated area.
Our “Designated Area” includes Bermondsey Street and its surroundings (known as Old Bermondsey Village) and stretches from Tower Bridge Road in the East to Great Dover St in the West. This includes the gardens and estates of Tabard and Leathermarket alongside the Guiness Trust Buildings and the Primary School at Snowsfield.
Anyone living or working in the area is welcome to get involved: Please see our meetings and membership section for more details.
Our regular membership currently comprises around 30-40 people with various WORKING GROUPS who focus on different areas of the emerging neighbourhood plan. Official roles are voted on annually - current positions are listed below:
